Negative thoughts are the worst! 😖
But unfortunately, they happen to the best of us.
Most people struggle with overthinking and negative thoughts from time to time. For some, these thoughts can become intrusive and take a life of their own, causing anxiety and depression.
Negative thoughts can drain you of energy and keep you from being in the present moment.
And the more you give in to them, the bigger problem they can become. They can quickly become toxic and hold you back from living the life that you deserve. Not only that, but a person consumed with negative thoughts also can affect everyone around them too. 👎
It’s not always easy but learning to control your emotions and let go of negative thoughts can be one of the healthiest things that you can do for your mind, body, and spirit.

Recognize that your thoughts are not facts.
Learn to recognize that your thoughts are not facts. They are just a result of your brain being on this rollercoaster ride we call life – nothing more than electrical patterns, shooting across neural tracts in your brain. 🤪
When we accept them as just byproducts of our minds, they can loosen the hold and intensity, and we can breathe easily again.
Speaking of breathing easy…
Focus on your breathing and the "Now" Moment
Meditation is a great way of getting out of your own head. Allow yourself at least 5 minutes to stop thinking. Sit and just be. Allow your body to relax.
While meditating, be still and mentally scan your body, and feel your body's connection to your center of gravity.
Put your attention on what's going on in and around you. Keeping your focus on your body should occupy your mind and allow it to step away from the negativity for a while.
Get It Out!
Bottling in your emotions is one of the worst things you can do.
If you don’t have a good friend to chat with, then write it down in your journal. Just getting your ideas out of your head will help create space for better things to come in. And venting to a friend can often help you see the situation in an all-new light.
Focus on Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful emotion! It is surely an incredible tool for personal development and happiness and living your BEST LIFE NOW! There’s ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
It can be easy to forget all of the wonderful things in life when negativity overcomes your mental state, so do yourself a favor and think of the good in your life!
When in a funk, list five things that you are grateful for. This list can be anything. Such as:
Having 3 steady meals a day
A roof over your head
Clean water
Family and friends that care about you
Finding gratitude in the simplest things is sometimes all we need to readjust our thinking.
Read Positive Affirmations
Using positive affirmations can benefit you in so many ways. It will absolutely help you release negative thinking from your life and allow you to think more positively and more clearly.
The key is to find positive affirmations that genuinely work for you and then memorize them, or even surround yourself with affirmation post-it notes!
Whenever you find yourself struggling with a negative thought, repeat your affirmations as much as you can. This will surely help you get through a negative time, more positively so you can SLAY your day!
