Develop a Morning Routine That'll Stick!

A good morning routine can set the right pace for the rest of the day. Wake up and feel accomplished, energized, and ready to take on the day with these five tips! Simple but effective, these tips will help you create a consistent morning routine that will get you in a positive mindset for the day to come.

Stretch

Wake up and stretch! Get your body moving and warm so you have more energy and are ready to start the day. Getting out of bed can be the hardest part, so even just sitting up and stretching in bed can make a huge difference. However, try and make an effort to actually get up and do a full-body 10-minute stretch. You will feel limber, energized, and experience fewer aches and pains throughout the day.

Make Your Bed

Before you leave the house or get distracted by the many tasks the day brings, put your bed back together (after you stretch, of course). Straighten the comforter, throw on the decorative pillows and you’re done! You have officially accomplished your first task of the day. This will give you a small sense of pride and will encourage you to do more throughout the day.

Journal

Write it all down. Every thought, feeling, memory...everything! Right when you wake up take a few minutes to journal. It doesn't have to be very long or too in-depth. Choose whatever topic you’d like to write about. Scribble down something funny that happened the previous day, 10 things you’re grateful for, or your hopes and dreams. Pick a subject and dedicate a couple of minutes to getting lost in thought.

Meditate

Meditation doesn't have to mean sitting on the floor and clearing your mind. Meditation can adapt to any definition you choose. Going for a walk with your dog, drinking your coffee on the porch and listening to the birds chirp, or just sitting in silence, can all be forms of meditation. Pick the activity where you feel the most at peace and make it part of your everyday life. Allow yourself time every day to just enjoy being alone and letting in anything that crosses your mind.
